COMMERCIAL CLIENTS

 
 

 

Commercial Clients may process shelf-stable, refrigerated, frozen, or dry products to sell directly to a consumer or to third parties such as restaurants, grocers, co-ops, and institutions. Shelf stable products must be acidified and high acid foods such as fruits, preserves, jams and jellies, salsas, sauces, etc.

Virginia Food Works is a non-profit that works with Prince Edward County to encourage the development of new food businesses.  Food Works’ Processing Specialists work with Commercial Clients providing advice and supervision as you develop your recipe and begin processing. In an effort to promote agribusiness, all Commercial Client assistance services provided by Virginia Food Works are free of charge.  Rental fees of the Prince Edward County Cannery and Commercial Kitchen are as follows (click here for full information):

REGISTRATION FEE:
$50.00 one-time
Prince Edward County Business/Commercial Client Residents
$10.00 per hour
Tobacco Commission Region Business/Commercial Client Residents*
$16.00 per hour
Other Area Business/Commercial Clients:  
Products including one Virginia grown ingredient
$20.00 per hour
Products not including Virginia grown ingredients
$25.00 per hour
* Virginia Food Works representative will identify “Tobacco Region” Business Clients if Clients are not already aware of their status.
