July 31, 2025: Emergency Bridge Closure – RT 612 (Sandy River Rd)

VDOT has provided an update on the emergency bridge closure on Route 612 (Sandy River Road). Also, a new hard-surface detour has been established (see map in press release). VDOT has bridge engineers reviewing the condition of the bridge today and tomorrow, and will share additional information as it becomes available.

Worsham Convenience Center Upgrade

EMERGENCY BRIDGE CLOSURE, PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY

LYNCHBURG — Motorists should expect delays due to an emergency bridge closure on Route 612 in Prince Edward County. Route 612 (Sandy River Rd.) is now temporarily closed from Route 613 to Route 641.

The Department of Transportation will provide adequate signs for the closure and detour of this portion of Route 612 (Sandy River Rd.) and will use Route 641 (Williams Rd.) to Route 621 (Grape Lawn Rd.), to Route 629 (Twin Lakes Rd.), to Route 613 (Indian Springs Rd.), back to Route 612 (See Map)
