Temporary Animal Control Service Changes

...

On September 15th, Prince Edward County Animal Control assisted the Sheriff’s Department with a call that resulted in the seizure of 12 dogs.

This unexpected intake has temporarily placed the County Animal Shelter at maximum capacity.  While our Animal Control Officers care for these animals and work to make eligible dogs available for adoption, the shelter is temporarily unable to accept owner-surrendered animals or pick up stray dogs.

Animal Control Officers will continue to respond to emergency and public safety calls.

We appreciate the community’s patience and understanding while our Officers work through this unusual situation.  We will provide an update as soon as normal shelter operations can resume.

Thank you for supporting Prince Edward County Animal Control and the animals in their care.
