County Officials Identify EMS Levy Taxation Error on Some Mobile Homes Accounts
Corrective Actions Underway
FARMVILLE, VA – The Prince Edward County Treasurer and Commissioner of the Revenue have identified and corrected a minor system error that affected certain 2025 tax bills for mobile homes. The issue involved an incorrect EMS levy rate applied to certain mobile homes taxed under the real estate rate instead of the personal property rate.
Of the 843 affected accounts, the vast majority reflect an error of less than $10.00. County officials have taken immediate steps to correct the issue and are asking mobile home owners to review their bills to confirm accuracy.
Depending upon each taxpayer’s situation, the County has outlined the following corrective options:
- If taxes have already been paid: The County will issue a refund check or a credit applied to the 2026 tax bill.
- If taxes have not yet been paid: The Treasurer’s Office and Commissioner’s Office will correct the error at the time of payment.
- If taxes are paid through a mortgage company: These tax bills have been corrected and require no further action by the taxpayer.
The County appreciates residents’ understanding and patience as these corrections are processed.
To avoid late fees or penalties, all 2025 County taxes remain due by Friday, December 5, 2025.
For questions or assistance, taxpayers may contact the Treasurer’s Office at (434) 392-3454 or the Commissioner of the Revenue’s Office at (434) 392-3231.
