WORSHAM CONVENIENCE CENTER GRAND OPENING

PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY, VA – The County of Prince Edward announces the grand opening of the newly renovated Worsham Convenience Center on Friday, January 9, 2026.  Located at 140 County Shop Road, the Worsham Convenience Center serves County residents and provides a compactor system for the disposal of household waste, as well as containers to recycle cardboard, newsprint, mixed paper, plastics, mixed metals, and tires.  A designated area is also available for bulky items such as yard waste, white goods and furniture.

“This project improves access and capacity for solid waste and recycling services in the County,” said Solid Waste General Manager Jeffrey L. Jones. “The centrally located site, just off U.S. 15, south of Kingsville, offers paved, all-weather surfaces, an on-site attendant, improved lighting, an elevated disposal area  and additional space for vehicles to enter, park, and unload materials.”

The facility was designed to improve usability and environmental protection with paved surfaces and a leachate collection system. The Worsham Convenience Center is open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, and from 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Sundays. The site is closed on Wednesdays.

The Prince Edward County Solid Waste Department is dedicated to protecting and improving the environment by providing high-quality recycling and refuse disposal services to the citizens of Prince Edward County.  For more information about County Solid Waste facilities, please visit the County website at https://www.co.prince-edward.va.us/Departments/Waste-Management, contact Solid Waste General Manager, Jeffrey L.
