Prince Edward County Landfill - Payment Process Change

 

Effective October 1, 2025, the payment process at the Prince Edward County Landfill will change.

1.  What is changing?  Effective October 1, all tipping fees must be paid in full at the Landfill at the time of disposal, unless an approved credit application is on file with the County Finance Department.

2.  Who does the County's new payment policy affect?

  • All businesses, commercial haulers, contractors
  • Out of county residents.
  • County residents operating a business (e.g. construction, landscaping, tree removal, rental property, maintenance) and disposing of waste originating from that commercial activity.
  • Institutions and other governmental entities.

3.  What is the County's Tipping Fee Policy?

  • No Tipping Fee:  Prince Edward County residents disposing of household solid waste from their own residence are not charged a tipping fee.
  • Tipping Fee Charged: A landfill tipping fee is charged on the following:
    • All businesses, commercial haulers, contractors.
    • Out-of-county residents.
    • County residents operating a businesses (e.g. construction, landscaping, tree removal, rental property, maintenance) and disposing of waste originating from that commercial activity.
    • Institutions and other governmental entities.

4.  What are the Landfill payment requirement?

  • All tipping fees must be paid in full at the Landfill at the time of disposal, unless an approved credit application is on file with the County Finance Department.
  • On-site payment at the landfill is required.
  • Only credit cards will be accepted.  Cash and checks will not be accepted at the landfill.

5.  Where can a landfill credit application be obtained?

  • Credit applications are available to commercial haulers, contractors, and businesses at:
